Our immediate plan is to find three great partners willing to live on the bleeding beta edge and run forums with us, so that we can be confident we've built a discussion platform that works for a variety of different communities. We promise to do everything we can to host your forum and make it awesome for two years. In return, you promise to work with us on ironing out all the rough edges in Discourse and making sure it scales successfully – both socially and technologically – to those three very different audiences.

Once we've accomplished that, which will take anywhere from six months to a year, we want to make it super easy for anyone to start a Discourse forum, at any scale, for any reason. Let a million discussions bloom!

Non-Profit

For non-profits, we want to provide easy setup steps to get Discourse running in the cloud, on virtualization platforms like Amazon EC2, Windows Azure, Google App Engine, and so forth – or on your own web servers wherever you like.

Small Business

For small businesses, we want an easy $19.99 to $99.99 month hosting plan so you can just click a button, enter your credit card information, and set up forums.example.com in 15 minutes or less on our world-class hosting service. Sure there will be other hosts, and the more the merrier, but we'll always know how to host Discourse best because we wrote it.

Enterprisey

For enterprises, we plan to sell licenses and on-site private instances. We're your huckleberry.

Growing the Ecosystem

We're just starting out, but we want Discourse to eventually become a huge business ecosystem of providers and experts like WordPress is today.
