Who is this program for?

Do you run a popular open source project? If you qualify, you get our Pro-level hosting plan at no cost—same features as our paid Pro tier. Eligibility criteria are described here: Free Hosting for Open Source v2.

Where will the site live?

Sites on the Free plan live on a *.discourse.group subdomain. If your project qualifies for the Pro plan, you can connect your own custom domain.

What happens if I exceed the limits?

Your site will never stop working. If limits are exceeded for an extended period of time, we will reach out to discuss flexible upgrade options. Continued hosting will require moving to self hosting or a paid hosting plan.

What happens if my site has no activity?

If your site sees zero posts (for 2-3 consecutive months) we'll get in touch about shutting down the site for everyone's benefit. Of course, you'd be welcome to start again when you're confident about generating enough traction for a forum to make sense!
